Sustainability

From the beginning, I have been determined to consider environmental impact at every stage of the printing process, and I’m always keen to hear about new ways of working sustainably.

Paper: I use 100% recycled card by Fabriano. The pulp is FSC certified and more than 50% of the energy used in production is hydroelectric. The paper mill where this paper is produced is certified ISO 14001 (environmental certification).

Inks: I use Cranfield Caligo Safe Wash Inks. These are oil-based, meaning no solvent is required to wash them up – just soap and water, with a glug of sunflower oil for good measure!

About the Prints

Blossom Top Prints are lino prints inspired by my local area and places I have visited. The hand-crafted nature of lino printing means that every single print has its own individual quirks and differences – making each one unique.

Blossom Top Prints is a new company, which I look forward to growing. It began with a two-day lino printing course in Venice. Two weeks later, I had ordered my press and sent my sister to deepest, darkest Dorset to collect it! I absolutely love the process – from finding an interesting subject to taking the first edition out of the press – and I am always on the look out for new design inspiration.

About the Artist

I always like to know who it is I am supporting when I buy a piece of artwork, so here’s a little about me. My name is Gemma. I am a primary school teacher, jigsaw enthusiast, second soprano and unashamed Harry Potter fan. I grew up in Hampton Court and currently live in Surbiton. Blossom Top was a nickname given to me by my wonderful Dad, whose memory has given me the courage to start the business.
